May 20, 2025- Do I love the violin (right)? Do I loathe the saxophone (left)? These are the questions the annual Instrument Test Drive sets out to answer.

At the center of the event— targeted at third and fourth graders throughout the district and held at High School East— are mentors. Everywhere you looked yesterday evening, music teachers and especially current student musicians were helping young ones learn how to hold and play instruments.

It's that type of guidance that can truly have an impact. Who knows— years from now, one of these young test drivers might be helping a third grader learn an instrument. Years from now, one of these very students might be a star saxophone player for an angry hard rock band.
