  • Saying 'Goodbye' to an Amazing East Dover Bear

It wasn't quite the goodbye many teachers imagine, but Mrs. Jaclyn Lomer announced her retirement during COVID-19's pandemic. She was not only an inspiration to the students she taught but to her fellow colleagues, as well. She started in 1984 at Hilltop Nursery, teaching preschool and full day kindergarten. In 1989, she became a 1st grade teacher at Seaside Park Elementary.  She worked there 21 years, until they had to close their doors after Hurrican Sandy.  In 2010, East Dover gained an excellent educator. Jackie started as a 3rd grade teacher and after 2 years, transferred to kindergarten, where she taught for 8 years.  During her 10 years at East Dover, Jackie was extremely involved in many committees, such as Parent Academy, Sunshine Club, Mind Aligned, Arts Integration, Assessment Committee, and others.  Jackie looks forward to her retirement hoping to enjoy some of her favorite activities like skiing, reading, relaxing at the beach, and doing arts and crafts.  We wish her all the best.  Please watch the beautiful video her daughters created by clicking on the above link.
