    During the event, students were surprised by the New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit landing a Bell Helicopter on our field! Students were able to tour the helicopter and the entire East Dover School body was able to take a picture with the State Troopers!

  • NEA Big Read Kicks Off in Grand Style at East Dover

    A camo truck sat in front of East Dover Elementary School Jan. 23 as families entered for a fun-filled evening honoring veterans and themed after Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried, the district's NEA Big Read selection for 2018-2019.

  • 2019 NEA Big Read Kickoff Event Jan. 23 at East Dover

    Jan. 14, 2019-- Toms River’s 2018-2019 NEA Big Read program will kick off next week with a free event at East Dover Elementary School. The first in this year's robust timeline of events, the Kickoff will take place 5-7 p.

    The East Dover Parent Academy sponsored a Family Reading Night. Mrs. Altobello and Mrs. Cassidy invited families to come out for a book discussion and activity of Trudy Ludwig’s The Invisible Boy. 
  • Family Coding and Engineering Night

    Please join us for Family Coding and Engineering Night Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 6:00 pm at Toms River High School East Media Center. This evening will be a wonderful opportunity for families to do an hour of computer programming together! All three of our High Schools robotics teams will present their work and conduct demonstrations with their FTC robots. At this special evening of learning and fun, parent-child teams will complete fun Code.org puzzles and challenges and learn core concepts in coding. Teams will learn how to apply their coding through various tools such as Arduino Microcontrollers, Finch and Spehro Robots, and some logic and reasoning puzzles and games. No coding experience needed and free for all participants! Student volunteers will be available for support. We encourage all of our students and family members to attend this exciting evening to learn the basics of computer programing and how coding is applied to real-world problems. This night is sponsored by the Toms River Education Association. We hope to see you at Family Code Night!
  • East Dover Ghost Story Contest

    Our third, fourth, and fifth grade students once again demonstrated their astounding talents in our first ever East Dover Ghost Story and Art Contest! Over a hundred spine-tingling stories and phantasmagorical works of art were submitted to our esteemed panel of judges. From ghostly principals to nightmarish mazes, creativity and craft were on full display. Congratulations to our winners and thank you to all who participated! 
  • Five Toms River Schools Win OceanFirst Grants

    This past spring, 12 of Toms River Regional’s 18 schools wrote lengthy proposals to make over classrooms with the hope of winning a biannual Model Classroom grant from the OceanFirst Foundation. The foundation hosted an awards banquet the evening of Oct. 2 at the Eagle Oaks Country Club in Farmingdale, NJ to recognize applicants and announce its 2018 winners.

  • East Dover's Garden Mural

    "Education is the wings on which dreams take flight" East Dover Elementary students and their families celebrated the installation of a 3-panel mural painted by staff and students at East Dover Elementary School on Friday, June 1st during the school-wide art show. 
  • Toyota World helps East Dover Elementary Students

    Toyota World is doing an amazing fundraiser for our school during the month of April to help support Autism Awareness and our population of students that have Autism. All the money that they raise during this month will come directly to our school and will be used to buy materials that will specifically support our students and their needs. We want to give them a huge thank you and let them know how much we appreciate what they are doing for our school and students. We hope that in return all of our East Dover families will also support them.

    We invite our East Dover families to come out and “Nourish your Mind” with a book discussion and activity featuring "The Jelly Donut Difference: Sharing Kindness with the World",  by Maria Dismondy. Together we will discuss ways to bring books to life in your home and spread kindness throughout our school and home communities.

  • The March 7, 2018 Professional Development Day was a tremendous success at East Dover.

    Staff members started the day off with team building activities in the gymnasium lead by Physical Education teachers Mr. Cassidy and Mr. Walsh. Staff members were provided presentations on Student Growth,Security Protocols, Mathematical Reasoning/Problem Solving and Inclusion within East Dover. We would like to thank Mr. Gray, Ms. Nocera, Mrs. Forrest, Mrs. Wilbert, and Mrs. Weber for providing valuable information at today's training!

  • Week of February 12th JUMP ROPE FOR HEART PROGRAM

    It's that time for jump rope for heart!! Heart disease is the No.1 killer of all Americans and its preventable through lifestyle changes. East Dover Bears are taking on the challenge of raising money and awareness to wipe out heart disease. Last year we raised $2190.00 and our goal this year is to exceed $3000.00 .During physical education/health classes students will be jumping rope, hula hooping and exercising to music while raising money for a great cause. So please BEAR NATION lets join the American Heart Association Scare Squad to support our students in this important experience. Thanks Mr.Cassidy and Mr. Walsh

    We would like to acknowledge two of our staff members for being selected as Teacher of the Year and Educational Professional of the Year. Our 2018 Teacher of the Year is Mr Michael Ritacco. Mr. Ritacco is currently a Fifth Grade Teacher at East Dover! Our Educational Professional of the Year, is Mrs. Dana Weber. Mrs. Weber is currently a LDTC (Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant) working in our Child Study Team office. These two staff members are the true definition of a Professional Educator. They are here to help your children and make learning fun and exciting. We are truly honored to have them as staff members at East Dover.

  • East Dover Elementary School PTO/Joan Auer Brice Memorial Scholarship

    Three awards of $500.00 each will be given on behalf of the East Dover Elementary School PTO. These awards are given in memory of Joan Auer Brice. Often referred to as Joanie by her friends, she was a devoted 5th grade teacher at East Dover Elementary School where she always went above and beyond for her students. She had a big heart and would do anything for anyone. She loved her family, her students, her friends, and her church. She was a diehard Yankees and Knicks fan. Joanie left this world on January 20, 2000 from injuries suffered in a car accident. She is loved and missed by everyone she touched. The guidelines for these three scholarships are as follows: 1. The student must be an East Dover Elementary School graduate. 2. Grades, SAT scores, and class rank are considered. 3. Extra-curricular activities and community service are also considered. 4. One letter of recommendation from a current teacher is required. 5. A short essay about a teacher who influenced the student’s life or academic career while at East Dover is to be submitted with the application. Kindly have the interested students return the application and attachments to you by Friday, April 21, 2017 and forward to me at East Dover Elementary School through interoffice mail.   • Father Daughter Dance - February 24, 2017

    Due to the overwhelming response of the Father Daughter Dance, we will be changing the location of the event. The 2017 East Dover Elementary School Father Daughter Dance will be held at the High School East CAFETORIUM. Because of this location change, we are opening ticket sales again to all East Dover girls and their dates. Tickets that have been paid for at this time will be coming home with your child today in backpacks. Any Father Daughter couple that would like to attend and does not have tickets can buy them Friday night, at the door. Tickets are $20.00 for the first student and $5.00 for each additional student. The first 200 ticketed students will receive a favor. All students will receive a ticket for a door prize! The event runs from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm. The Administration and East Dover PTO appreciates your support and is happy this event has become so successful over the last three years! We love our East Dover families!     We are thrilled to share that our 3rd-5th grade students will be supporting the American Heart Association’s Jump Rope For Heart program during PE classes the week of February 27th. By participating in Jump Rope For Heart, your child will join millions of other children across the country in a meaningful opportunity to learn and help others.

    The First Graders are sponsoring a "Soup"er Bowl Challenge from Monday, January 30 - Friday, February 3rd. We are asking for donations of canned soup which will be donated to the Ocean County Food Bank. Students who would like to participate are asked to place their cans in either the Patriots or Falcons basket by the Main Office.   • Teacher of the Year

    We would like to acknowledge two of our staff members for being selected as Teacher of the Year and Educational Professional of the Year. Our 2017 Teacher of the Year is Mrs. Jackie Lomer. Mrs. Lomer is currently a Kindergarten Teacher at East Dover! Our Educational Professional of the Year, is Mrs. Karen Liguori. Mrs. Liguori is currently a Classroom Paraprofessional who works with the children in Mrs. Kozlik’s classroom. These two staff members are the true definition of a Professional Educator. They are here to help your children and make learning fun and exciting. We are truly honored to have them as staff members at East Dover.
  • Community Helpers

    This week, the students in Mrs. Tracy Fournier's class, kicked off our Community Helpers project. Every week students will study a different "helper" and their role in contributing to a good community for us all. This week the class learned about police officers. Students studied the tools they use and the various jobs they do, as well as why they are important members of our community. For one part of the project, the children learned how to ask and answer questions to learn about these helpers. The children designed and created the questions to ask a police officer. Today the class had a visit from our first community helper guest, Toms River Police Chief Mitch Little. Chief Little talked about becoming a police officer, showed students the tools officers use and discussed the things they do in their role as community helpers. Thank you Chief Little!
  • NJDOE Education Services Professional of the Year Nomination

    Dear East Dover Parents, We are excited to participate in the NJ Department of Education’s Governor’s Educator of the Year Program. This program highlights educational innovation, student learning, and the rewards of teaching. It recognizes and honors the contributions of outstanding pre-K through grade 12 classroom teachers and educational services professionals who possess a special talent for inspiring a love of learning in students of all backgrounds and abilities and are leaders in their fields. Nominations may come from parents and colleagues and are due no later than 3PM Friday December 23, 2016. Our school Teacher of the Year also has the chance to become County and State Teacher of the Year, so the more you share in your nomination, the better! Please see the attached for details.
