  • Hooper Avenue Turns 60!

    May 4, 2026 --  It was a celebration for the ages as Hooper Avenue Elementary School turned 60 years old!  Current students and staff packed the gym for a pep rally that featured past administrators and other honored guests as Principal Jason Hughes helped ring in the school's 60th birthday.
  • GT Expo a Showcase of Mythical Skills

    Stump the superintendent? A couple of gifted and talented students attempt to school Superintendent Michael Citta, and it appears to be working. 
  • Top Educators Receive Their Flowers at Board Meeting

    They are ALL IN: The 2025-2026 Teachers and Educational Service Professionals of the Year were honored at the March 18 Board of Education meeting at High School North.
  • Where's Wonka? Eastside Theatre Co. Tours Elementary Schools

    March 13, 2026- In advance of the premiere of their spring showing of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory next week (March 19, 20, and 21), High School East's Eastside Theatre Company brought the show on tour .
  • Cake Sculptures, Mosaic Apples Highlight 2026 Youth Art Month

    March 11, 2026- All 12 district elementary schools are participants in this year's Youth Art Month celebration, which hosted its opening receptions at the TRAC (Toms River Artist Community) Gallery in downtown Toms River late last week.
  • Mangia! Hooper Families Enjoy Pasta Night

    February 20, 2026 -- It's become a tradition everyone looks forward to at Hooper Avenue Elementary.  Pasta Night!  The fifth graders acted as the servers and delivered a delicious pasta dinner to their families.
  • Family Veterans Day a Hit at the Hoop

    Nov. 5, 2025- Few schools celebrate Veterans Day — or veterans in general — quite like Hooper Avenue Elementary. That trend continued today, as students at the Hoop welcomed their veteran family members for a school ceremony and classroom visits.
  • Mission Accomplished: Operation Homecoming

    There wasn’t a dry eye in Dora Giannetti’s first-grade classroom at Hooper Avenue Elementary when U.S. servicemember and father Chris Gable surprised his daughter after returning from deployment. It was all part of a special moment dubbed “Operation Homecoming” and the special reunion was caught on tape.
  • Patriot Day Commemorated at Hooper Avenue

    On September 11th, students and staff at Hooper Avenue gathered for a remembrance ceremony, observing a moment of silence to honor the lives lost 24 years ago.
  • Back to School 2025-2026

    Sept. 3, 2025- Students returned to school today, officially kicking off the 2025-2026 school year.   • Turkey Trot Benefits Muscular Dystrophy Association

    Hooper Avenue's annual Turkey Trot was a success thanks to Hooper students, families, staff, PTO, cross country team members, and T.E.A.M. volunteers. By working together, $1,500 was raised for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
  • Hooper Students Team Up to "Share the Joy"

    For the past 20 years, Hooper Avenue Elementary School has teamed up with 100.1 WJRZ during the radio station's annual Share the Joy initiative. During the month of November, students in Mr. Hynoski's class worked hard to collect food from the school community. All food collected will support Fulfill of Monmouth and Ocean Counties and will benefit people in the local communities.

  • Staff at The Hoop Celebrate Autism Acceptance Month

    "We all fit together at the Hoop" is a tagline lived out by staff members everyday, but particularly during April, which is National Autism Acceptance Month. Thank you, Husky staff, for showing us the way by always modeling empathy and acceptance!
  • Hair-Raising Happenings at Hooper Thanks to Liberty Science Center

    First-grade teacher Joelle Siek is shocked to see what science can do during the school’s assembly today featuring lessons from Liberty Science Center.
  • Hooper Families Spread the Warmth with More Than 200 Donations

    The 9th annual Tree of Warmth saw Hooper Avenue families donate more than 200 NEW hats, mittens, scarves and pajamas for children in need, which the school will provide to local charities throughout Toms River. Thank you for spreading the warmth!
  • Principal Takes Pie to the Face

    Principal Mr. Hughes was a great sport while he was pied by super Huskies who raised the most money for Hooper Avenue's second annual Fun Run!
  • Huskies Take Fourth in Ocean County Math League

    The annual Ocean County Math League tests the mathematical abilities of students in grades 4-8. We are happy to announce that the Hooper Huskies fifth-grade math team won fourth place overall in the 2023 contest! Congratulations!
