Members of this club are responsible for taking all of the recyclables out of the high school to be picked up by the town. Members also earn community service hours and extra credit if you have Mr. Hirtes or Mrs. Wallace as a teacher. Anime Club features videos and manga representative of Japanese pop culture. Interested members often bring to the meetings their own media collection to share with the group. We occasionally sponsor anime movie nights as an alternative activity. Mr. Martin is the choir teacher and if you have any questions, you can contact him at pmartin@trschools.com

Art club is a relaxing and fun club to be a part of! You make projects to channel your creativity and you connect with other artists in your school. You can either stay after school until the late bus or you have to arrange your ride. Project ideas are given to you but you are not pressured to do it as if it is class work, you can do your own thing. The atmosphere can be calm or encouraging and it’s a safe space to be in. The Association of Students for Africa (ASFA) is a student founded and operated club that will focus on education, leadership, community service, and cultural unity. We strive to achieve the highest level of education among our peers. We value learning and displays of leadership in our communities. We encourage the betterment of our society through community service. We represent our continent with pride and educate those who wish to be enlightened about the beauty of African culture. Distributive Educational Clubs of America (DECA) is a national organization of marketing education students, providing teachers and members with educational and leadership development activities to merge with the education classroom instructional program. DECA attracts students who are interested in preparing for entrepreneurial, marketing or management careers through fundraising events, chapter projects, community service projects, and a program of competency-based competitive events in specific marketing occupational areas. Audition to be part of this South tradition! This year we will be producing another great play and musical with performances at the end of March. The production will not only need talented actors but a whole team for the stage crew as well. Auditions will take place after school. Specific details for these try-outs, including materials and dates will be announced as we get closer to the date. Being in the school play will require a strong commitment to be able to make rehearsals. A student’s involvement and their schedule will depend on the role in which they are cast and the progress of the project. Film clubs mission is to education students and peers on film and how they are made by directors to effectively demonstrate their purpose. In doing so, we are more aware of why we felt a certain way during a scene, how the director implemented that emotion within us, and how they did it. If you would like to dip your feet in the water and get some hands-on experience on or behind the camera, contract Mr. Gold at rgold@trschools.com.

The High School South Fishing Club is open to all students who want to learn how to fish the fresh and salt waters of the Jersey Shore. The club hosts monthly meetings which involve members giving fishing presentations and guest speakers from all walks of the fishing industry such as local experts, notable fishing celebrities, party and charter captains, retail tackle shop owners, local fishing clubs, Division of Fish and Wildlife, and conservation and environmental groups. The club also fishes together, hosts and participates in fishing tournaments, and are involved with the local community to obtain community service hours. Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is a national vocational student association for students who are interested in business or business education careers. Benefits of FBLA membership are business proficiencies, community responsibility, leadership skills, and self-confidence. If you have any questions, contact Mr. Gold at rgold@trschools.com. 
This is a student-run club that is a safe place to talk about and show support for issues within the LGBTQ+ community. The goal of the club is to end homophobia and transphobia within the school community. Anyone is welcome to attend the meetings, whether you are a member yourself or you are an ally. Habitat for Humanity partners with people in your community, and all over the world, to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With your support, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and for their families. Believe it or not, there are kids right here in High School South and all around our town without enough food or water or clothes. Kids who want to go to school, but can’t – because they need to work. These are kids just like you who just need someone to care. It can be hard to know where to start. But even a little can make a big difference in the lives, and futures, of your fellow Indians. The ripple of change starts with you! The Indian Givers are a student-led group that meets regularly to create change in the lives of fellow South students in need. You’ll raise money… and have a blast while you’re doing it! Interact is a service club that gives young people an opportunity to participate in fun and meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills and meeting new friends. The basic principle of Interact is to help others. Through service activities, Interactors learn the importance of developing leadership skills and personal integrity, demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others, and advancing international understanding and goodwill. Raising money for worthwhile causes, working within the school, and working directly with people in the community are a few ways Interact members are involved. Any student that is in the art program that has completed one semester with a B+ average is welcome to the National Art Honor Society. There is a required number of hours related to art and community service in order to be a member. Before joining make sure that you are motivated, hardworking, and committed. The school newspaper, known as “The Chieftain”, is published throughout the school year. As a member of this club you get to interview students and teachers, along with writing stories about important events happening at High School South. The available positions within the club are reporters, copy editors, writers, proofreaders, layout editor, cartoonist, and photographer. Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Spanish Honor Society has to take Spanish courses at High School South and must be passing with at least an A- average. While many cannot apply until their junior year, this society looks at activities from freshman year so it’s important to start building a good resumé if you are interested in joining. If you have school spirit, this club wants you! The Spirit Club prides itself on recognizing students, faculty, and staff that are the most spirited. Students that want to participate should have creative minds and should be interested in promoting our school. If you want to give back to your community, then TEAM is the club for you! TEAM, Together Everyone Achieves More, is built for students that want to live productive lives and positively contribute to the community. Some activities include regular trips to the district’s elementary school in order to promote positive behavior as well as various food or pet drives to help the community. Anyone looking to get involved in the drama program at High School South should consider the Thespians. Even if you have no experience on the stage, this club will take you! Students explore various areas of theatrics such as improv, musical theatre, and the theme of teamwork amongst many others. Anyone who is in the music program at High School South may receive an invitation to the music honor society, also known as Tri-M. Something extremely unique about the yearbook at High School South is that the entire thing is put together by members of the student body! Positions available include writers, layout, taking pictures, promoting sales, and distribution. This is a full-year commitment which may require taking photos early in the morning and staying after for a few hours. For more information contact Mrs. Scala!
This program is sponsored by RWJ Barnabas Health. This club is made up of students who are committed to encouraging others to live a healthy lifestyle free of drugs and alcohol. The club promotes activities throughout the year to help prevent the use of drugs or and alcohol. If you are interested you can contact Mrs. Rankin at krankin@trschools.com. 
This club is designed for students who want to better themselves in writing. The club is student-ran and any AP or honors student that is a junior or a senior can apply to tutor. Tutoring through the writing center can receive community service hours for their time and leadership hours.
