Feb. 20, 2026- During the Raiders' match against Lacey yesterday — a 3-0 win that moved the team to 18-3 overall on the season, and 11-2 in their division — senior Dan Carella bowled a perfect game. The 300 score came in the second frame, and led to a 683 high series for Carella.
A previous version of this story incorrectly noted that Daniel’s perfect game was the first in school history. It’s not, and the truth is even better, and brings more light to Toms River bowling immortality.
The first 300 game in High School East history was bowled by Shawn McCloud on Feb. 10, 1988 at Ocean Lanes in Lakewood under coach Ron Smith. It was not only the first for HSE, but the first in Shore Conference history, and possibly the first within Toms River Regional Schools.
Even better? We have the proof! See below.
So a hearty congrats to Daniel, and a tip of the cap to Shawn McCloud. Two Raider bowlers separated by almost four decades but united forever by perfection.
