March 27, 2026- Amazingly, the district had more than one freshman who competed at the adidas Indoor Track Nationals, finished fourth in shot put, and solidified their place among freshmen competitors nationwide.

There was Matthew Tenner, and also High School East's Jeniah Thomas (right), who also finished fourth in the event. It capped a remarkable showing for the young Raider, who finishes the indoor season as the top freshman shot putter in New Jersey.

Competing with all grades throughout the state, she finished 13th in the event at the Meet of Champions earlier this month. She was an option answer in NJ.com's poll to pick the top freshman girls indoor track and field athlete in the state.

Now, when it comes to shot put, the answer isn't quite so subjective. It's Jeniah Thomas.
