All in all, there was plenty of reason for celebration during High School North's 33-6 win over Cherokee Nov. 17. The team is headed to the state title game for the second straight year. Nov. 20, 2023-- High School North is a team on a mission. Following an undefeated season and a state championship last year, the Mariners surprisingly lost two games-- and, for a while, their starting QB-- in 2024. Since senior quarterback Micah Ford has returned, and especially since the playoffs began, the team has been a steamroller.

In four Central Jersey Group 5 playoff games, the Mariners have outscored their opponents by a whopping 145 points, the most recent a 33-6 win over Cherokee this past Friday. The win secured the team's second consecutive berth in the state title game, where they'll face Passaic Tech Nov. 27.
