May 20, 2024-- High School South's girls track team put forth another impressive performance at the Shore Conference Championships this past weekend. Kendall Howe, who recently earned First Team All Shore in pole vault, tied for sixth in high jump and finished second overall in her signature event.

Julia Santos (right), meanwhile—the Field Event Athlete of the Year for 2024, recognized by the Shore Track Coaches Association—outdid herself, literally. Julia recorded a discus throw of 135 feet, 9 inches, a full 14 feet farther than her best throw, which earned her the gold medal in the event and set a new school record. Julia also came up big in the shot put, finishing in second place with a throw of 43 feet, 2 inches.

South’s Ellie O’Leary was the only freshman at the Shore Conference Championships to score in her throwing events. Her throw of 96 feet, 6 inches in the javelin was good for fifth place.

Well done, girls, and congratulations on another stellar performance!
