May 18, 2026- High School South's girls lacrosse team proudly hosted a Morgan’s Message dedication game May 11, as the Indians welcomed in-district rival High School East for an evening centered on mental health awareness and student-athlete advocacy.
The dedication game was organized in support of Morgan's Message, a national organization committed to eliminating the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community. Players, coaches, families, and fans came together to promote open conversations about mental wellness and reinforce the importance of seeking support both on and off the field.
The driving force behind the initiative was Caroline Keenan, a junior at South and a Morgan’s Message student ambassador. Keenan led efforts to organize the May 11 dedication game at South and also coordinated an earlier dedication game held at High School North April 30.
“This game represents something much bigger than lacrosse,” said Keenan. “This is our third season being involved with Morgan’s Message. This season we were able to host two dedication games. Our athletes wanted to use this platform to help raise awareness, support one another, and remind everyone that no one has to struggle alone.”
Through her leadership and advocacy, Keenan works year-round to bring together student-athletes at High School South and across the district in support of mental health awareness and the mission of Morgan’s Message. Her efforts include promoting events, encouraging community involvement, and helping create meaningful opportunities for athletes to support one another beyond competition.
“These games are about reminding athletes that mental health matters and that it’s okay to ask for help,” Keenan said. “Being able to bring our schools together for such an important cause has been incredibly meaningful.”
The evening featured pregame recognition and awareness initiatives designed to honor the mission of Morgan’s Message and encourage unity among the participating programs. Alongside Keenan, K.C. Briles from the East Raiders spoke with confidence and poise, representing her school and her team in a way that made the entire Toms River community proud through her leadership, character, and passion for the game. Both teams demonstrated sportsmanship and solidarity while emphasizing that mental health is just as important as physical health for student-athletes.
The Morgan’s Message dedication games reflect the continued commitment of student-athletes and school communities nationwide to foster positive conversations surrounding mental health and create supportive environments for all athletes.
