'Today I play for Diane Harz'

May 19, 2025- Friday's home matchup with Marlboro was Senior Night for High School East's girls lacrosse team, and a resounding 15-2 over their Shore Conference opponent was a nice way to celebrate.

Appropriately and unsurprisingly, seniors Maria Hayduk (above left) and Grace Crowley (above right) were prominently involved, notching a goal apiece and three and two points, respectively. The win put the Raiders at a solid 10-6 on the season.

The evening had a deeper meaning as well. "Stick It To Cancer" was the theme, and for everyone at High School East, that mantra held something personal. Many chose to play and coach in honor of longtime and beloved HSE media specialist Diane Harz, who passed away last week.

It was an emotional and cathartic game that served to remind everyone of what's important in life.

Everyone throughout Toms River Regional Schools remembers Mrs. Harz fondly and with tremendous appreciation for the love and knowledge she shared with others throughout her tenure here, and for the many lives she touched. We offer our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones.
