Six Players Named All-Stars; Taliercio MVP

Jan. 29, 2024-- Joey Taliercio scored with one second remaining to give South-East (SEAST) hockey a thrilling 4-3 win over Lacey on Friday, Jan. 26. The victory, which moved the team to 10-5-1 on the season, clinched the division for the first time in the co-op's history.

The game-winner was Taliercio's second of the game, an MVP-level performance ... quite literally, as he was named division MVP earlier in the week.

Lucas Rojas gave SEAST a 3-2 lead in the third period, but Lacey followed three minutes later with a power-play goal to tie it. This set the stage for Taliercio's unassisted heroics, capping a Shore Conference matchup that was intense throughout.

As division champs, the team finished undefeated in the Shore's South division, finishing 6-0-1.

All-Star nods have reflected the team's success this season. In addition to Taliercio's MVP honors, five other players have been recognized, including:

  • Brady Verdon: 1st team
  • Alex Fortunato: 1st team
  • Nate Danyo: 2nd team
  • Liam Magovern: 3rd team
  • David Gawalis: honorable mention

Congratulations to these players, and to Toms River South-East hockey on its division title! Additional photos from Friday's game are below, courtesy of High School East's Allison Goodwin, and full coverage of the game courtesy of TRSTV can be found here.
