Feb. 3, 2025- The eighth-grade boys Titans basketball team beat Spring Lake by a healthy 20 points this past Saturday, securing the Mid Monmouth Championship, a first for a Toms River team in the league. The Titans' average margin of victory in the playoffs was 23 points.
"We're so proud of this group for finishing the job the right way," said coach Chris Doncsecz, who is also a teacher at South Toms River Elementary School.
The team itself is composed of 11 eighth-grade boys who attend either Intermediate East or Intermediate North, and its three-man coaching team are each lifelong Toms River residents who graduated from Toms River Regional Schools.
"Thank you, coaches and parents for everything," added Doncsecz. "And boys, best of luck to you in your high school careers!"
