Elizabeth Sculthorpe Force

Ms. Force pioneered in the teaching of social behavior and family relationships. She graduated from New York University with a BA in 1940 and in 1944 earned her MA. Ms. Force taught for thirty-four years in grades three through twelve, twenty-four of those years in Toms River.

She is the author of Your Family - Today and Tomorrow and Teaching Family Life Education as well as co-authoring Ten Topics Toward Happier Homes. She is also the author of many articles and pamphlets on family life education. Ms. Force has been a lecturer and consultant to institutes, communities, and school systems in many states in this country as well as providing international service to Peru, Brazil, Chile, Taiwan, and Germany.

Retired in 1974 as Director of Family Life Education for the American Social Health Association in New York City, Ms. Force was also president in 1968-69 of the National Council on Family Relations and represented the Internation Family Organization at the United Nations. In New Jersey she was awarded a Distinguished Alumni Citation by Montclair in 1957 and in 1953 was honored as Citizen of the Year by the Kiwanis Club of Toms River.
