Students in the STEAM Academy at High School East are collaboratively working on an exciting cross-curricular project during their humanities block. Students are using the hospitals and factories they redesigned in World Civilization and combining them with the 21st century schools they designed in English during their To Kill a Mockingbird unit to create their own towns/cities. Students are creating 2-D or 3-D maps of their towns/cities either through computer programs, such as Minecraft, or through the use of other materials, such as popsicle sticks, legos, and styrofoam. Classes have been utilizing the Makerspace in N-3A all week.
