April 15, 2020-- Intermediate South students in cycle 82 have been conducting online DNA extractions in their science classes. While the online lab was fun, science teacher Ms. Kurtz encouraged students to not stop there. She offered an extra credit challenge to take what they had learned online and complete a real DNA extraction in their own kitchen using soap, isopropyl alcohol, salt, and any squishy fruit or vegetable they had. Based on the pictures and videos students posted to their virtual classrooms, the home DNA extractions were a success ... great job cycle 82!
