North boys hurdlers track photo May 5

May 5, 2025- The High School North boys track foursome of (above, left to right) Mordecai Ford, Camryn Thomas, Jael Hester, and Mamadi Diawara continue to make and break records.

Most recently, at the Ocean County Relays held in Stafford over the weekend, they broke a Shore Conference mark that has stood since 1979.

In the shuttle hurdles, the boys finished at 56.58, which tied a state record set in 2017, and bested the Shore Conference record of 57.7 set by Neptune 46 years ago. It was, as NJ.com pointed out in an Instagram post honoring the feat, the second-fastest recorded time in U.S. history in the 4x110 shuttle hurdles event.

Just when you think these young men can't outdo themselves, there's another race.

There were plenty of other successes by district athletes at the relays, from teams and individuals- including pole vault gold for High School South's Jayden Hall and Ian Brown. Asbury Park Press has all the details.
